Burningman 2011 is sold out

Burners trying to purchase tickets online are finding out that the event has sold out in record time. In years past the Burning Man organization, lovingly referred to as the BORG, has made tickets available to participants right up until the week of the event. Tickets could even be purchased at the gate. Unfortunately last year the attendance was higher than the contract with the BLM–Bureau of Land Management–allowed and this year a cap was placed on the number of tickets available.

As a result the BORG will be forced to stop admitting participants over the now hard limit of 50,000. All the more reason to purchase tickets earlier. The early reports that this was nothing more than a rumor were dispelled by gossip maven and BORG spokesmouth Will Chase, better known as ‘Jack Rabbit Speaks’, who was candid about the topic. “If  you’re not one of the first 50,000 people to order tickets you’ll be SOL.” Chase added that because of the high demand the BORG is now selling the list of ticket purchasers to other online merchants for marketing purposes. “We figured that as long as Burners were buying tickets they would be open to solicitations from companies that offer products we think are appropriate for our community.”

For those who wish to attend, but have been shut out by the sudden limits, there are always the scalpers to turn to.  People who formerly worked for Ticketmaster and other rock concert promoters, have bought up large blocks of tickets and will release them in increasing numbers as the festival date approaches.  Organizers predict that ticket prices will reach $2750.

The BORG realizes that the new policy may be met with displeasure and encourages those who disagree with it to call 415-TO-FLAME.
