Ruprecht, an award-winning photographer who also shoots Ecko's ad campaigns, traveled to India twice in five years to capture the 40 candid shots on display. All were printed on sustainable "lokta" paper from Nepal. "Everybody thinks of India the way the Beatles have thought of India," the artist philosophized. "It's a place where you find yourself, even if you're not quite sure what you're looking for."
We were told that we would be taken on a walk and have a chance to have a a tour and in-depth look into Ruprecht’s work. I used that as an opportunity to hit the bar! They were serving up some sort of citrus vodka concoction that wasn’t sitting well with Mo so I opted for a delicious mango and rum mojito, which was absolutely amazing! More than 1,000 people were in attendance last night including Marc Ecko, Heather Matarazzo, Jacob Young, Stella Maeve, Spencer Treat Clark, and figure skater Oxana Baiul. And Mo didn’t see any of them! Why? Umm..did I tell you how amazing those mojitos were? Mo was holding down the fort!
Splashlight Studio hosted it’s Grand Opening Tuesday night in Soho. Peter Ruprecht showcased his ‘Monadic Nomad’ photo collection. The event was a definite success, with a large crowd of photographers, artists and models all mingling around Peter’s photographs of India, his audio-video installation, and photographic images from Nepal. To top it all off, they served food inspired by his adventures.
